The Atonement

The table, Gethsemane, and the cross—the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly.

Luke 22:42, 44

He broke bread first. Then he walked a short way into the dark of Gethsemane. Not gore. Not a study in wounds. A man on the ground, asking that the cup pass, then yielding Himself to the Father’s will. Isaiah said He would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows. Hebrews says He can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. The garden is the center of this wall because it reveals a Savior who entered human sorrow fully before giving His life upon the cross.

The cross completes what the garden opened. The man of sorrows is still a man — mocked, wounded, and yet full of a love that does not turn away. This gallery will not dwell on torture. It will behold the cup, the table, the cross, and the quiet of a night that changed the history of every soul.

If you stay with these pictures, stay until the garden is not an illustration. Stay until it is a place you could kneel.
