The Resurrection

Dawn at the stone. Mary in the garden. Thomas before the risen Christ. A road at evening.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.

Matthew 28:6

The stone is rolled away, the cloth is empty, and a woman hears her name. Death has not merely been endured; it has been overcome. The impossible truth is made tender enough to approach: He is risen, and because He lives, death will not have the final word for any of us.

The story does not end with an empty garden. The risen Christ stood among His disciples and invited Thomas to reach toward the wounds in His hands and side. He wanted them to know — not as a rumor or a memory, but as a living body. Thomas answered with a confession that still carries the morning to us: “My Lord and my God.”

Emmaus is the road at evening, the stranger who becomes the breaking of bread. Mary is the first apostle of the resurrection because she turned. This wall is that turning — dawn, a name spoken, a walk that suddenly has company.
